Bob currently works in corporate security, managing security contractors who provide fixed‑site security and personal security details. He enjoys sharing his experience with others and training firearm owners from beginners to advanced students. His goal is that every student leaves class with more skill and confidence than they expected, and the ability to carry a firearm safely and responsibly.

Bob has 13 years as a Raleigh Police Officer and 24 years in the military, and he continues to update his training. He has carried a gun professionally in both law enforcement and combat environments, and he brings that real‑world perspective into every class.

Military Service

Bob has 24 years of military service with three deployments: Bosnia in 2000 and Iraq in 2004 and 2009. His career includes time as both a Noncommissioned Officer and a Commissioned Officer, giving him two perspectives on leadership and training.

As an NCO, his training focused on Communications and Infantry, including Airborne training. His roles included Assistant Platoon Sergeant and Drill Sergeant, where he trained new recruits in basic rifle marksmanship and small‑unit tactics.

After Officer Candidate School, Bob served as an Armor (Tank) Officer. His positions included Scout Platoon Leader, Tank Platoon Leader, Company Training Officer, and Unit Training Officer during a Bosnia deployment. In Iraq in 2004, he was responsible for training the Iraq National Guard and other security forces as they prepared for Iraq’s first elections.

Bob later returned to active service and deployed again to Iraq in 2009, serving as a Staff Officer and Company Commander responsible for security in West Rashid, Baghdad.

Law Enforcement Career

When he was not on active duty, Bob served with the Raleigh Police Department. He worked as a Senior Patrol Officer and Field Training Officer, mentoring new officers and always seeking additional firearms and tactics training. He earned a Certification as a Law Enforcement Tactical Specialist from Wilson Technical Community College.
