Bob's background
Bob currently works corporate security managing security contractors conducting fixed site security
and personal security details. Bob enjoys sharing his knowledge with others training new firearm
owners from beginners to advanced level training. His students leave his classes achieving much
more than they expected and having the confidence to carry their firearm safety.
Bob has 13 years as a Raleigh Police Officer and 24 years in the Military and he continues to update
his training.

Bob Steele’s depth of firearms knowledge comes from his military and police experience. He has 24
years of Military Service with 3 Deployments, Bosnia in 2000, Iraq in 2004 and 2009. He was a
police officer for 13 years with the Raleigh Police Department before being retired after his last
deployment to Iraq.
Bob's military time consists of Active, Guard and Reserve commitments. He has two perspectives,
one as a Noncommissioned Officer for 12 years and one as an Officer for 12 years. During his
Non-Commissioned Officer time, his military training consisted of Communications and Infantry. He
had additional Airborne training. The highest job held during this time was Assistant Platoon
Sergeant as a Drill Sergeant where his role was training new recruits basic rifle marksmanship and
individual and buddy team tactics.
After Officer Candidate School Bob served as an (Tank) Armor Officer. Some of his jobs included
Scout Platoon leader, Tank Platoon Leader, Company Training Officer and he had special
assignments as the Unit Training Officer for a Bosnia deployment. Bob’s path would continue on the
training side of things for another deployment to Iraq in 2004. While in Iraq he was responsible for
training the Iraq National Guard and other Security Forces as they prepared for Iraq's first elections.
Bob retired and would later return to the military deploying again to Iraq in 2009. During this time, he
served as a Staff Officer and Company Commander responsible for security in West Rashid
Baghdad.
When Bob wasn’t on active duty and serving in the National Guard his full-time job was working with
the Raleigh Police Department. He was a Senior Officer on Patrol and a Field Training Officer. Bob
always looked to improve himself and took additional firearms training. He earned a Certification as
a Law Enforcement Tactical Specialist from Wilson Technical Community College.
